HOSCON IN BAYELSA STATE ELECTS NEW STATE EXECUTIVES AT 2020-AGM
The Bayelsa State Chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON) has elected new State Executives at it's 2020 Annual General Meeting held at wetlands center, Osiri road, on Thursday 3 Dec. 2020, to kickstart a new frontier for community development in the oil and gas sector in the Niger Delta region.
The organization which has been managed by an interim management committee (IMC) over the years, was revamped by critical stakeholders when they decided to set an agenda for development of the organization hinged on their God given wealth, (Oil & Gas) and how oil bearing and pipeline communities can maximize the embedded potentials for development, after over 30years of oil and gas exploration in the region.
The Election which was announced by the erstwhile Interim Management Committee State Chairman, Mr Idubamo Awalla, is an idea endorsed by the Great Amayanabo of Twon Brass, King Alfred Papa-Preye Diete Spiff, who is also one of the Trustees of the organization, and has been in the forefront of the clamour for development of oil bearing region with it's resources, for peace and over all development of Nigeria.
The high point of the election was the successful conduct of the election and the eventual emergence of Bishop Victor Okorotie as the New Elected Chairman of the body in Bayelsa State, to the delight of all delegates.
In a Speech by the National President, Mike Emu, delivered by his representative at the gathering Mr. Victor, a Special Assistant to the National President, said "HOSCON Bayelsa State has conducted the most peaceful, freest and fairest election in the World as he has witnessed. And he recommends American and the rest of the World to learn from the conduct and success of the election for future reference". The National President added that, the Newly Elected State Chairman is a capable hand and he trusts that he and his executives would lead HOSCON Bayelsa to greater heights. He therefore congratulated the new executives and wished them well as the resume in their new portfolios as leaders of the body in the State.
The ocassion had the Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy and Community Relations in Bayelsa State Chief Thompson Amule as Special Guest of Honour, as well as other dignitaries who observed and witnessed the election.
The newly elected executives through the appreciation speech of the new State Chairman elect promised to live up to expectation of members and ensure fair representation of the interest of Bayelsa State, in HOSCON activities at all times.
