RURAL PEOPLES ASSEMBLY

As part of events marking the new year the IzonFest Development Foundation inc. held her 2026 CANOE RACE EXHIBITION at the waterfront of King Abraham Farms (KAF), Igbogene-Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.  The event which took place on the 1st of January 2026 saw enthusiastic participants competing for prizes and consolation rewards in a very keenly contested competition. The prizes which were set as 1st Prize - 15,000, 2nd Prize - 10,000 and 3rd Prize - 5000, with popular Niger Delta cuisine Bole (Roasted plantain), Roasted Fish and Fresh Palmwine as consolation prizes. The races were divided into three categories such as SINGLE DASH RACE, DOUBLE DASH RACE AND DOUBLE OBSTACLE COURSE RACE regulated with timer stop watches by the judges and referees, with support from the linesmen, with the participants with the lowest time record emerging the winners. The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Big-Tent OBI-DATTI Independent Campaign Council has on Saturday 7th January, 2023 inaugurated the organization's state executive council in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The event took place at the conference Hall of community centre international (CCI), Bayelsa State where the newly nominated and elected state executive council was inaugurated to steer the policies and programs of the organization to greater heights. In a swift twist of fate, Liberation Movement, one of the political parties who hitherto contested and lost the Gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State and went ahead to challenge the outcome of the Bayelsa State Gubernatorial election at the Tribunal has moved to arrest and prosecute some of its prominent ambassadors, members and legal team over alleged criminal breach of trust, gross misconduct and breach of the party's constitution and principles.
