National Consultative Front, Bayelsa State Chapter Emphatize with Victims of 2022 Flood Disaster

The Chairman, National Consultative Front (NCFRONT), Bayelsa State Chapter expresses great concern and empathy for victims of the 2022 flood ravaging a large portion of Bayelsa State and neighbouring states which has left thousands of people stranded and homeless. This challenge has become gruesome on the livelihood of friends, families and loved ones across the affected areas, as prices of essential commodities have been impacted due inability of trucks and other vehicles to convey food and fuel to most flood affected areas, with attendant hoarding of these commodities by marketers to cause artificial scarcity, causing prices of goods and other services to a record breaking 500% hike. This calls for urgent attention by government and other critical stakeholders to avoid an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the affected communities, even as huge losses of human and property worth millions have been recorded already. Reports reaching the news desk of Rural Peoples' Assembly has it that one Mr. Kemecy Harry Yeri, a former councillorship aspirant under the defunct Liberation Movement (LM) in Bayelsa State has alleged that an attempt was made on his life when sometime in April, 2022 a mob of youths believed to be hired by the PDP and led by the community youth president Ms Oyinbunua Rose Ekumoh attacked him bearing dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, Daggers, Rods/Pipes and Planks and injured him severely as he sustained a machete cut to the knee and neck, and several bruises all over his body.
