National Consultative Front, Bayelsa State Chapter Emphatize with Victims of 2022 Flood Disaster

The Chairman, National Consultative Front (NCFRONT), Bayelsa State Chapter expresses great concern and empathy for victims of the 2022 flood ravaging a large portion of Bayelsa State and neighbouring states which has left thousands of people stranded and homeless.

This challenge has become gruesome on the livelihood of friends, families and loved ones across the affected areas, as prices of essential commodities have been impacted due inability of trucks and other vehicles to convey food and fuel to most flood affected areas, with attendant hoarding of these commodities by marketers to cause artificial scarcity, causing prices of goods and other services to a record breaking 500% hike.

This calls for urgent attention by government and other critical stakeholders to avoid an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the affected communities, even as huge losses of human and property worth millions have been recorded already. We therefore call on residents to stand shoulder to shoulder and support each other in these trying times to ameliorate the extent of the devastation, even as we call on the government at all levels and the international community to send support to victims through platforms like the NCFront, Community Centre International (CCI), Rural People Assembly (RPA), IzonFest Development Foundation and other well-meaning organisations to reach-out to affected communities in any ways that they can.

A crisis situation like this is not the desire of any individual, group or state, so everyone should show genuine concern for the plight of the affected and do whatever is within their means to support victims to survive these trying times.

At NCFront Bayelsa State we are doing our best to encourage individuals, families and communities to hold on in hope and pray that the flood with abate in the shortest possible interval and allow people to pick the lives from where they can find happiness in life again. We look forward to donations, support, relief materials and palliatives from generous individuals, groups and organisations to continue to touch lives accordingly.

Thank you for your resilience and unflinching desire to see a better Nigeria.

Signed:

A. O. Aniso Esq.
(Bayelsa State Chairman, NCFront)
