DETAINED AYAMASA YOUTHS - POLICE DEMAND N5M TO FACILITATE BAIL, AFTER OVER 40 DAYS BEHIND BARS

The lawyer to the detained Ayamasa Community Youth Presidential aspirants have hinted that the Admin Officer (A.O.) to the Operation Restore Hope department of the Nigeria Police Force Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Clement Akpo informed him that the relatives of the suspects should provide the sum of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00) to facilitate the bail process of the 4 persons still in custody.

Citing the figure as outrageous, the lawyer when confronted by our correspondent stated that he does not understand the rational behind the demand, because bail is free and the offences alleged against his Clients are bailable.

The lawyer equally said he has told the suspects to remain calm and rest assured that they will be released soon. Even as he is liaising with the concerned family members to workout a more realistic solution to have their members are released to their families as soon as possible.

According to a family member who preferred to speak to our correspondence on condition of anonymity, he said he is surprised that those who use machete to cut the candidates who only stood for elective positions are not arrested, but the candidates who had no hand in the alleged arson, have been treated so unfairly.

He said he's surprised that the anyone can open their mouth to mention N5M to release innocent persons unjustly detained, persons who are victims of bad leadership and after such a very gruesome experience. It's sounds like kidnappers ransom, he said.
