The Liberation Movement's Bayelsa State Chairman commends Liberation Movement governorship primaries in Bayelsa State
Barr. Aniso Abraham Chairman of Liberation Movement political party has lauded the successful conductor of the party's primary election that produced the party's gubernatorial flag bearer for the Bayelsa State Governorship election coming up on the 16 of November, 2019. The exercise which saw the emergence of Mr. Vijah Opuama as the political party's consensus candidate was peaceful, yet event-filled. The high point of the occasion was when a call was made to the Aspirants to come forth and present their manifestos before the waiting delegates, which saw the two contending Aspirants Barr. Abraham O. Aniso and Mr. Vijah Opuama make presentations that captivated the audience about how they hope to positively develop and change the Bayelsa State socioeconomic environment with projects and policies that would create a lasting sustainable development and environment for the citizenry.
When called upon to make last minute statements that would precede the voting at the primaries, Barr. Aniso Abraham elected to stepdown from the contest and rather chose to throw his weight behind Mr. Vijah Opuama as the consensus candidate for the party. The lawyer who also doubles as the State Party Chairman of Liberation Movement (LM), stated that he realised Mr. Vijah Opuama was better prepared to fly the flag of the party than himself, as a ambassador of the party, considering his track record and years of personal grooming. He added that he believe his counterpart was a better man for the job. Which was why he was stepping down to allow the party put its best leg forward. An act which caught the admiration of everyone present.
A total of fifteen (15) delegates, participated in the exercise. Seven (7) of which were Super Delegates and Eight (8) statutory delegates representing the eight (8) local government area of Bayelsa State. The State Chairman went further to queue behind the remaining Aspirant as a show of support and promised to do everything towards ensuring the party succeeds at the polls come 16 November, 2019. Also in attendance at the Primaries were representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the person of Mrs. Erika of the EMP department and men and women of the press from the state owned Niger Delta Television (NDTv) and Bayelsa State radio, Glory FM 97.1.
The occasion came to an end after the results were collated and declared by Chairman of the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Primaries committee and signed by the relevant persons representing the party, before handing over same to the INEC representative as the one and only successful Aspirant to represent the party in the coming election.
